Movements to be included in freestyle show are:- halt, walk on a long rein, original three loop serpentine at trot, canter on both reins and an extended canter across the diagonal.  Lead rein competitors are not required to perform any movements in canter.

Classes 18, 19, 21 to 28 are to be ridden in a snaffle bridle with either a drop, cavesson or flash noseband (dressage rules apply).  Spurs and martingales are not permitted.

 

3.

Method of Judging for Competition Horse & Pony Classes

Horses and ponies enter the ring individually and will be judged according to the Ponies (UK) Performance/Competition class rules:-

Phase 1            Performance & Freestyle Show                60 marks
Phase 2            Conformation/Type & Suitability for Dressage   40 marks

The individual freestyle show must include the following movements:- halt, walk on a long rein, 2 looped trot serpentine, extended trot on the diagonal, 2 looped canter serpentine which must include a change of lead, extended canter on the diagonal.  NOT to exceed 2 minutes.

Snaffles or Double Bridles only to be used. Blunt spurs may be worn. 
No change of saddlery will be permitted.

Notes:   1.

Fence heights are approximate maximum height for the first round.

 

2.

Nursery: This class is open to genuine novice combinations and should be entered in the spirit it is intended.

 

3.

Novice & Intermediate: Combination not to have won a height or open class at R&DRC previous to the current season or the end of season novice championship.

 

4.

Combinations entering the Novice Show Jumping Ring are ineligible to enter the Open Pony/Horse show jumping classes in the Main Ring and vice versa.

Notes:   1.

Handy equine classes are to be ridden in a snaffle bridge either drop, cavesson or flash noseband.  Artificial aids are allowed but penalties will be incurred.  Spurs and whips are not permitted.

 

2.

Horses/ponies may only enter one handy equine class.

 

3.

Lead rein classes are to be ridden in a snaffle bridle with the lead rein attached to the noseband only.
